I’ve been using the Chilham bed in several schemes because its clean lines and softly grained oak top lend themselves to both modern Scandi settings and more traditional country cottages. The painted frame keeps the look light, so you can easily swap your accent colours each season without it feeling too heavy.
To style it, layer neutral linens with a textured throw and a couple of patterned cushions to pick out any highlight hue in the room. Keep bedside tables simple - ideally matching the bed’s finish - and consider low-profile storage boxes underneath to maximise space in a smaller room.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
