This delicate blue with green undertones is taken from the background colour of the Lily design (c. 1873) in William Morris’s bedroom in Kelmscott Manor, Oxfordshire. Chalky Matt's wipeable finish offers an immersive depth and irresistible quality to any interior, leaving an enduringly harmonious look. Ensure good ventilation during application and drying. All surfaces to be painted should be clean, dry and free from loose and flaking material including dirt and grease. Prime base surfaces with an appropriate primer. Rub down previously glossed painted surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinse thoroughly. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Special precautions should be taken during preparation of pre-1960’s paint surfaces as they may contain harmful lead. Prime base surfaces with an appropriate primer. The kelmscott water5 rug is a versatile piece that works particularly well in relaxed, cosy interiors or casual living spaces. Its muted, pastel tone adds a sense of calm and can easily complement both modern and traditional decor. I love pairing it with neutral furniture to let the colour stand out subtly, or layering it with textured cushions and throws for a more inviting look. Practical styling tip: this shade is great for grounding a room, so consider placing it under a sofa or coffee table to anchor your seating area without overpowering the space. It’s an effortless way to introduce colour while maintaining a serene, understated aesthetic.
