Authentic and deep in colour Emery Blue is taken from the background of the Willow wallpaper from Emery Walker’s house. Emery Walker was a noted Typographer and fond friend of William Morris. Chalky Matt's wipeable finish offers an immersive depth and irresistible quality to any interior leaving an enduringly harmonious look. Ensure good ventilation during application and drying. All surfaces to be painted should be clean dry and free from loose and flaking material including dirt and grease. Prime base surfaces with an appropriate primer. Rub down previously glossed painted surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinse thoroughly. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Special precautions should be taken during preparation of pre-1960’s paint surfaces as they may contain harmful lead. Prime base surfaces with an appropriate primer. Stir well before use and apply by brush or roller. Apply 2 coats recoatable after 2-4 hours. Additional
The chalky blue hue of the Morris & Co paint in Emery Blue Sample creates a calm and sophisticated backdrop, making it a versatile choice for many interiors. I love how this colour pairs beautifully with both neutral and darker tones, adding depth without overpowering the space. In a bohemian or coastal-inspired room, it can evoke a relaxed, seaside feel, while in a more contemporary setting, it works well with sleek furnishings and metallic accents. When styling with a rug, opt for textures and patterns that complement the colour - natural fibres like jute or sisal work well alongside this shade. Practical tip: keep accessories and soft furnishings in softer shades to prevent the blue from dominating, and consider using layered lighting to enhance the paint’s muted, chalky finish.
