Description

In celebration of Hans J. Wegner's enduring legacy and over 70 years of collaboration with Carl Hansen & Søn, the Masterpiece Edition: Reimagining the Classics collection presents Ilse Crawford's respectful reimagining of Wegner's CH26 Armchair for the esteemed manufacturer, newly available in a considered contemporary colour palette. The CH26 Armchair, originally manufactured in 1950, belonged to Wegner's debut Carl Hansen & Søn collection. Combining a complex structure with soft curves and organic shapes, the CH26 Chair flaunts a solid wood frame and distinctively moulded back shell alongside the signature armrests and envelope-woven paper cord seat. The elegant chair is reinterpreted for the modern generation with a limited-edition colour palette, developed by Ilse Crawford and inspired by the expressionist works of Per Kirkeby and Nordic abstraction. Imbuing the classic form with depth and subtle complexity, the non-toxic, water-based paints allow the natural beauty of the FSC-certified oak to take centre-stage, whilst adding an atmospheric, modern twist.

Our Stylist Says

I love this armchair for its lovely blend of colour and classic form, making it versatile for various interiors. The Seaweed hue offers a subtle touch of colour without overpowering a space, making it ideal for both modern and more traditional settings. It works especially well in schemes that embrace natural materials or earthy tones, such as Scandinavian or coastal-inspired decor. For styling tips, pair it with wooden or rattan dining tables for a cosy, organic feel, or mix it into a more eclectic look with coloured or patterned tableware. Its practical, comfortable design also makes it perfect for casual dining nooks or multi-functional spaces where style and comfort are key.
