In celebration of Hans J. Wegner's enduring legacy and over 70 years of collaboration with Carl Hansen & Søn, the Masterpiece Edition: Reimagining the Classics collection presents Ilse Crawford's respectful reimagining of Wegner's CH25 Armchair for the esteemed manufacturer, newly available in a considered contemporary colour palette. The CH25 Low Armchair, originally manufactured in 1950, belonged to Wegner's debut Carl Hansen & Søn collection. Elegantly crafted from oak wood with a handwoven seat using a distinctive pattern that requires more than 400 metres of paper cord, the chair is reinterpreted for the modern generation with a limited-edition colour palette. Developed by Ilse Crawford and inspired by the expressionist works of Per Kirkeby and Nordic abstraction, the palette imbues the classic form with depth and subtle complexity, the non-toxic, water-based paints allow the natural beauty of the FSC-certified oak to take centre-stage, whilst adding an atmospheric, modern twist.
