Designed in 1965 by Hans J. Wegner and produced by master craftspeople at Carl Hansen & Søn, the dynamic, sculptural presence of the CH163 Sofa is crafted from Danish oiled walnut and upholstered in rich black Sif leather. Each CH163 Sofa is handcrafted from sustainably sourced Danish oiled walnut by master craftspeople in Denmark and showcases an elegant silhouette with ergonomic lines. Its contemporary proportions are cushioned with an upholstered seat and back, covered with are Carl Hansen & Søn's premium Sif leather. Supple Sif leather upholstery is crafted using full grained, uncoated pure aniline ox hide, hand-picked from the finest hides and uncoated for the most supple texture and highest breathability of all Carl Hansen leathers. With added features such as an oiled walnut body, the CH163 Sofa is a contemporary take on a classic design. The CH163 Sofa in walnut and leather is an excellent example of iconic Danish designer Hans J. Wegner's constant striving towards organic simplicity in his work, and his desire to create sculptural beauty, comfort and outstanding stability.
