Description

Created by Zanotta to pay tribute to Carlo Mollino’s 1949 design, this beautiful black oak and smokey glass iteration of the Cavour Desk is exclusively available at The Conran Shop UK for a limited time. The desk is characterised by its black-varnished oak frame and formed of three sections: an open storage compartment, a sculptural supporting leg and a set of drawers that acts as the second part of the base. Athick smokey grey glass desktop completes the design. Inspired by the mantra that “everything is permissible as long as it is fantastic,” Italian architect, designer and photographer, Carlo Mollino, was one of the twentieth century’s most iconic designers, gifted at demonstrating undeniable foresight into the future of design.

Our Stylist Says

I love this desk for its sleek, contemporary look that combines smoky glass with rich black oak, making it a statement piece without overwhelming the space. It works particularly well in modern or minimalist interiors, adding a touch of sophistication and contrast. Practical styling tips include pairing it with clean-lined accessories and muted colour palettes, which will let the materials shine. To keep the space feeling balanced, consider adding warm textures like a wool rug or soft fabric accessories to soften the visual sharpness. This desk is versatile enough to work in a home office or a professional setting, where its bold design can become a focal point.
