I’m a fan of the Carnegie desk for its straightforward, industrial-edged look: the metal pipe legs give just enough of a workshop feel, while the warm brown top stops it from feeling too cold. It sits neatly in urban lofts, Scandi-style flats or pared-back home offices and pairs well with simple shelving or a minimalist floor lamp.
To style it, keep your desk surface clear of unnecessary clutter: a slim desk lamp, a small pot plant and a leather desk mat will add life and texture without overwhelming the space. Tuck cables away with a clip-on holder under the top and, if you need extra storage, use a low, open shelving unit or a slim set of drawers alongside rather than on the desk itself.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores".
