Carmella Ceiling Pendant, Smoke

Our Stylist Says

I love the Carmella in Smoke for its sleek, modern aesthetic that effortlessly adds a touch of sophistication to any space. Its minimalist, curved glass design works particularly well in contemporary interiors, but it can also add an unexpected, chic edge to more traditional settings. When styling, consider hanging it over a dining table or in a kitchen island to create a focal point, pairing it with other muted or metallic accents for a cohesive look. Practical tips include adjusting the height to suit the room’s scale - lower for an intimate vibe, higher for a more open feel - and ensuring the bulb light casts a warm glow, enhancing its smoky hue. Overall, it’s a versatile piece that bridges both form and function beautifully.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
