Børge Mogensen was one of the most influential furniture designers of his generation, bringing 'Danish Modern' to the masses. Carl Hansen & Son breathe new life into his legacy with this shelving system, which is based off a cache of forgotten drawings. The BM0253 Shelving Cabinet is a flexible and multi-functional system, crafted from solid oak and powder-coated steel bars. Expandable, customisable and height-adjustable, the unit completely embodies Mogensen's 'building furniture' ethos ' that timeless designs should be able adapt to changing needs and spaces.

I’m a fan of this Carl Hansen oak cabinet for its clean lines and versatile scale - it sits just right in a hallway or as a low sideboard in a living room. The combination of oiled oak and dark legs works especially well in Scandi-inspired, mid-century or contemporary schemes, where you want a touch of warmth without heavy ornament.
Styling tip: break up the length by layering art or mirrors above, then mix storage baskets, a couple of coffee-table books and a sculptural vase on one side, leaving open shelf space on the other to keep the look balanced. The sliding doors mean you can stow away clutter quickly, so it’s ideal if you need both display and hidden storage.

Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.
By the 1900s, almost everyone in London knew Heal's for its great furniture. Interestingly, they were also among the first to sell electric lights in Britain. During World War II, their main store even helped by making parachutes for soldiers.
