Designed by Patricia Urquiola and Eliana Gerotto, Caboche was created in 2005, based on a strong and simple intuition: creating a light with a look that it as pretty, sophisticated and light as a pearl bracelet. From its beginnings, Caboche stood out as one of the top Foscarini best-sellers, until it became a real icon. The Caboche lampshade is made up of a multitude of PMMA spheres organised in a concentric fashion to increase the light from the central source. A satin-finish blown-glass diffuser hides the source so as to avoid glare. When it is switched on, the light is emitted from the inside of the spheres like many light crystals, therefore providing a 360° lighting, while guaranteeing lighting upwards and downwards. Transparent and sparkling, the multiple PMMA spheres appear to float in space, in a wonderful effect of complete transparency. The diffuser is supported by a varnished white metal structure. It consists of three supports on a round base which is reminiscent of the round shape of the lampshade, providing consistency, originality and lightness to the whole object. This floor lamp is equipped with a dimmer. A real design gem, as sparkling and precious as a pearl bracelet, the Caboche floor lamp is a piece with a great visual impact, capable of combining lightness and decorative and practical value. It enhances any setting.
