Our Stylist Says

This cable knit throw with sherpa backing is a practical yet cosy addition that works well in a variety of interiors, from modern minimalist to rustic or coastal schemes. I love its textured cable knit design, which adds visual interest without overwhelming a space, while the navy hue keeps it versatile and stylish. The sherpa backing provides extra warmth and comfort, making it perfect for snuggling up on chilly evenings. For styling, drape it over the end of a sofa or bed to add a layer of colour and texture, or fold it neatly over a chair for a cosy, inviting look. It pairs particularly well with natural woods, soft neutrals, and crisp whites, helping to introduce tactile warmth without cluttering the space.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
