Description

Design. The Bumi Dining Table showcases the old pine in all its glory, with the gorgeous grain work and natural colour variations all adding to its charm and character. Combining nature with something more modern is very on trend, and the Bumi Dining Table features slim rustic black metal legs which work perfectly in harmony with the pine. There is plenty of space for family and friends to gather around and enjoy a delicious meal and good conversation.

Our Stylist Says

I love the simplicity and natural appeal of this dining table - its pine top offers warmth and character, making it a versatile piece that can complement a range of interiors, from rustic to modern industrial. It works particularly well in open-plan kitchens or dining rooms with neutral tones, where its organic texture can be featured as a statement piece. For styling, consider pairing it with minimalist chairs or a mix of vintage and contemporary pieces for a relaxed, inviting look. Practical tips include keeping the surface clear with streamlined tableware or adding tactile textiles like woven placemats or a runner to enhance its natural finish without overpowering the wood’s character.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
