A sculptural representation of simplicity, guided by design… Developed by Italian designer Francesco Meda, the Bridge lamp is featured in the collection of the Triennale Design Museum. A true graphic symbol, Bridge is a symbol of continuity. The concept was built on a natural and instinctive gesture, almost evoking an ancestral game: a hand which folds a sheet of paper and transforms it into a 3D object. Bridge is entirely made from a single sheet of brass or steel, 1.2 mm thick, laser-cut and folded with no joints. The lamp features an exceptional 3D design and structure, enhanced with folds on the sides. The central body forms a "light point", resting on four side points. The simple nature of the concept is also reflected in the user interface: the lamp is switched on and off with a simple hand gesture, requiring no direct physical contact. The Bridge lamp features a touch-sensitive switch: an infrared optical sensor in the centre, switches the lamp on or off when a hand moves close to it. With an LED strip, the Bridge lamp projects direct light onto the surface it's placed on. Bridge is a step away from the typical lamp concept, becoming a decorative and sculptural element. Originally self-produced in 2014, in a slightly different version to that found in the Foscarini catalogue, Bridge is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Design of the Triennale di Milano - an illustration of the constant commitment of Foscarini to his quest of making contemporary design accessible to a wider audience.
This Bridge 1 lamp is a sleek choice for adding a contemporary touch to both modern and eclectic interiors. The gold metal finish brings a subtle luxe feel, making it versatile for use on desks, side tables or in home offices where a touch of sophistication is desired. Its clean lines and understated design make it easy to pair with a variety of colour palettes and furniture styles. For styling tips, consider combining it with natural textures or contrasting materials like dark wood or matte ceramics to highlight its metallic sheen. It works particularly well in minimal spaces, bringing both functionality and designer flair without overwhelming the overall aesthetic.
