Danish designer Jakob Wagner's pieces are exhibited around the world, notable at the MOMA in New York. The Branch table is characterised by its incredible, ramified base which leaves the spotlight to the transparent glass tabletop. This pressure-formed aluminium base is made up of several identically-sized pieces which slot into one another with ease to form a coherent overall piece. An element is formed where the precedent disappears, so that the elements are smoothly combined in one, single continuous movement. This unique component can be repeated several times to create a family of differently sized tables. As a result, we get a simple yet complex form, adding a lightweight look and stability to the table. Delivered flat-packed, the Branch table doesn't take up much space in transport. Easy to assembly, this table is suited to both public and private environments. Jakob Wagner: "I try to create a balance between contrary elements in my creations. I play with contrasts between static elements and dynamics, symmetry and asymmetry, masculinity and femininity. This throws into question our senses and concept of the object touching us. ‘’.
I love the facade of the round glass top on the Branch, which offers a sleek, minimalist look that works particularly well in contemporary and industrial interiors. Its transparent nature helps the table blend seamlessly into spaces without feeling bulky, making it ideal for smaller rooms or open-plan layouts. Styling tips include pairing it with modern, statement chairs - like the black one in this image - to create a balanced contrast. Practicality-wise, the glass top is easy to clean, but using placemats or coasters will help maintain its clarity over time. Overall, it’s a versatile piece that elevates dining areas with its crisp design while staying functional for everyday use.
