I’m a fan of this low oak shelf for its clean lines and warm tone - it’s a simple piece that slips into Scandi, minimalist or modern-farmhouse schemes without fuss. At just the right height for under a window or behind a sofa, it adds storage without closing off a room.
For styling, alternate stacks of books with small planters or pottery to break up the horizontal lines. Use woven baskets on the bottom shelf to hide clutter, and leave a little negative space so it never feels overcrowded. In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
