I love this Borneo unit for its clean lines and versatile natural finish, which make it a great fit in both contemporary and rustic settings. It works particularly well in open-plan living spaces where you want to create a warm, inviting focal point. The combination of wood and black metal gives it a modern industrial vibe, but it can easily be styled with knick-knacks, books, or decorative vases for a personalised touch. Practically, I’d suggest keeping marvels of organisation in mind-use the open shelf for media gadgets or decorative trays and the enclosed cupboards for cables and less attractive clutter. It’s a solid choice for keeping things tidy whilst adding a touch of natural elegance to any living room.

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.
Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.
From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.
Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.
Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.
