I’m a fan of this little storage bench for its clever combination of seating and shelving - perfect for a child’s room or a busy hallway where you need to tuck away toys, books and bits and bobs. Its clean white finish and simple lines fit neatly into Scandi-inspired, contemporary or even a farmhouse-style interior, and it won’t compete with brighter wall colours or patterned wallpaper. For a neat look, group baskets or fabric bins in the lower cubbies to hide smaller toys, then use the upper shelves for a few book spines or a small plant. Humble Beginnings
In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
A Visionary Leader
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
Under his leadership, The Range has not only thrived locally but has also hinted at European expansion dreams, envisioning a staggering 1,000 stores across the continent.
