The Bonaparte Deep Buttoned Socle Bed. *Luxurious Chesterfield style leather bed with a deep-buttoned Victorian design. *Hand-threaded buttons and decorative scrolls at the head and foot of the bed. *Handcrafted from solid beech timber. *Distressed wooden panels, scroll feet and sweeping hand-carved side rails. *Pictured in Lily White leather but other leather and fabric options are available,pleasecontact usfor details. *Every leather hide is unique, ensuring each bed is an individual creation. *Side panels can also be fully upholstered on request. * Head height 135 cm *Foot height 45 cm WHAT IS A SOCLE BED. The word socle comes from the Italian word zoccolo literally meaning wooden shoe and dates back to the 18th Century, thus giving us the English word sock. Architecturally, its a low plinth or pedestal to display the article on top, hence the design for our beds.
