This porcelain lamp is one of our more contemporary designs. The hand painted China blue art work illustrates the flora and fauna of the Orient. The delicate symphony of butterflies and flowering cherry blossom branches are simple and interesting against the neutral dove grey painted background. There are over 2000 species of butterflies in China and they have been a popular symbol for centuries. The most popular method of displaying the butterfly in art form is on Chinese kites, which are very commonly hung on walls around the home. This lamp sits on an antique metal stand.
