David Watson collaborates with local artists creating classic British designs. Potter & printmaker Mike Levy has been working in the applied arts since the mid 1980s. This design was printed from lino blocks and handprinted on a home-made printing press made from recycled wood and an old car jack! Mike’s gallery is on the lower promenade in Brighton and this design is of a pair of lovers on the balcony of the Brighton Royal Pavilion, with the Pier on the horizon.
I love the Brighton silk cushion for its bold, artistic appeal and luxurious texture. It works particularly well in eclectic or contemporary interiors, adding a pop of colour and a touch of sophistication. Its eye-catching design makes it a great statement piece, especially on a neutral sofa or bed. When styling, try combining it with other textured cushions in complementary tones to create an inviting layered look. Due to its silk fabric, it’s best suited for areas with less exposure to direct sunlight or heavy use, so it makes a perfect accent piece rather than a daily-use cushion.
