Designed by Raw Color for Spanish design house nanimarquina, the small Blend 2 Rug plays with the visual perception of colours, with different hues merging before your eyes to create new colours. The statement flat-weave rug is expertly hand-woven by skilled artisans using 100% hand-spun Afghan wool and is a contemporary interpretation of a Kilim Rug. This type of traditional tapestry weave was notably produced by the ancient Persian Empire but has also been found to date back to the fourth century. Founded in 1987 by Nani Marquina, the daughter of pioneering Spanish designer Rafael Marquina, nanimarquina blends contemporary designs with traditional techniques to create unique and eye-catching handcrafted rugs. nanimarquina collaborates with prestigious international designers to design unique rugs and crafts them with particular attention to selecting quality raw materials. Conscious of its societal and environmental impact, nanimarquina places ethics at the forefront of its production process. Passionate about reusing, reducing and recycling, it aims to preserve natural resources through the use of biodegradable and recycled products. It uses an eco-friendly chemical-free washing method that enriches the environment with nitrogen and uses less water than traditional cleaning methods.
