Blackthorn designed for wallpaper by J.H. Dearle in 1892 was first adapted for machine printed fabric in 1975 by Sanderson and became hugely popular. Todays versions are reproduced in authentic colours matching the original wallpaper samples and the mottled appearance gives the fabric a hand printed look. Shown here in shades of purple, blue, beige, yellow and green. The Blackthorn wallpaper would make an alluring feature wall, or use the repeating patterns to cover an entire room. This wallpaper is part of the Morris Wallpapers Compendium I & II wallpapers collection. Application Method: paste the wallpaper and then apply. Pattern match: Straight match. Vertical repeat: 61cm. To tie the look together team with the matching rug and matching cushion.<a href='https://www.therugseller.co.uk/blackthorn-indoor-outdoor-cushion-628505-
I really like this Blackthorn wallpaper for its classic yet lively pattern, which can instantly add a touch of vintage charm to any space. It works particularly well in traditional or eclectic interiors, especially when paired with natural wood accents or muted furnishings to let the pattern shine. As it's quite busy, I’d recommend using it on a feature wall rather than throughout a room, and keeping other textiles like cushions and rugs simple to avoid overwhelming the space. For styling, consider layering with neutral or earthy rugs and accessories, and adding plants or greenery to complement the botanical motif. This backdrop is versatile enough to elevate bedrooms, living rooms, or even hallways, giving a space a welcoming sense of charm and heritage.
