Bird LED Table lamp - / L 94 cm by Nemo Black

A subtle balancing act. Created by the German designer, Bernhard Osann, the Bird lamp calls to us through its clean and graphical outline which resembles a pencil stroke in space. It is made up of a long protruding black extruded aluminium arm. On its base, a T-shaped support element sits on a flat surface, while the brass vertical counter-weight is suspended in the empty space. Like a pendulum, the long protruding arm is animated with slight movements: the lamp placed freely on the surface, swings and moves but always returns to a horizontal position. The LED unit is incorporated along the protruding arm. The arm, equipped with an invisible joint, can rotate, making the lamp versatile and providing a direct or indirect diffuse light (light directed downwards or upwards). The Bird lamp has an infra-red sensor dimmer which lets you control the light simply by running your hand over the top of the lamp (no need to touch the lamp). A combination of poetry and technique, the lamp by Bernhard Osann takes on a light sculpture vibe by freeing itself from traditional forms. This lamp with a simple and minimalist shape is like scales in search of balance. In a delicate movement, via a simple support, Bird rests on a flat surface. The designer, Bernhard Osann on the Bird lamp: "I was inspired by the sculptural and kinetic look of articulated arms. I undertook a radical simplification: the cables are hidden in order to make the joints invisible, reducing the body of the lamp to a fine outline, a sign in space. The result is a timeless desk lamp with a graphical look, characterised by its flexibility’’.
