The Bestlite BL4 floor lamp was designed by Robert Dudley Best in the 1930s, with inspiration taken from the iconic Bauhaus era. The lamp is a real design classic in its own right and can be found in permanent collections at both the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Design Museum in London. The lamp arm can be tilted 90 degrees, both horizontally and vertically, and the lamp shade can be rotated 360 degrees. Simply, design at its best – with Winston Churchill amongst its many enthusiasts.
The Bestlite BL4 floor lamp in matte white-chrome is a classic piece that combines timeless design with versatility. I love how its understated elegance suits both modern and retro-inspired interiors, particularly in living rooms or home offices. Its adjustable arm makes it highly functional, perfect for task lighting or creating cosy reading corners. Stylistically, it works well paired with minimalist, Scandinavian, or even industrial decor, adding a touch of sophistication without overpowering the space. To style it effectively, try placing it next to a grey or muted-toned sofa or near a textured armchair, and consider complementing its chrome accents with other metallic accessories for a cohesive look.
