Description

Part of Bertoia's 1952 Wire Chair Collection, this iconic Bertoia counter stool with Cato upholstery is a sculptural structure, with clean lines of chrome-finished steel rods constructing its mid-century modern form. Crafted from welded steel rods finished with polished chrome that make up the seat and base, the Bertoia stool's comfortable seat pad attaches with snap buttons and is upholstered in Cato fabric in an assortment of colours. Inspired by a hand-woven aesthetic, the Cato fabric that covers the seat pad was introduced in 1961 and is crafted from a wool-mix composition, with an exaggerated texture that creates the ultimate accent. With a Knoll stamp of authenticity on the back, this sculptural counter stool would lend a touch of artistry wherever you choose to place it, and is available with seat pads in fire red, brown, green, grey, ivory, natural and sand hues.

Our Stylist Says

I love this wire-framed barstool for its sleek, modern aesthetic. The chrome finish makes it versatile for contemporary or industrial-style interiors, especially in open-plan kitchens or breakfast bars. The Cato fabric seat adds a touch of comfort while maintaining a clean, minimalist look - the coral hue is a subtle pop of colour that works beautifully with neutral palettes. A practical styling tip: pair this stool with a simple marble or wooden countertop to let its design stand out, and consider stacking a few cushions or throws on the seat for extra comfort or visual interest. It’s perfect for casual spaces, but also chic enough to elevate more polished dining or bar areas.
