Described as a 'study in space, form and function', Harry Bertoia's 1952 Bird Armchair and Ottoman have become icons of 20th century furniture, and yet continue to feel as radical and modern today as they did when Knoll first produced the chairs over 60 years ago. Upholstered here in super soft, densely woven Capraia fabric in a variety of hues, the Bertoia Bird Chair is as much a sculpture as it is a piece of furniture. With a welded steel frame, comprised of polished steel rods, the Bird Armchair forms part of Bertoia's legendary wire seating collection. The Bird Armchair’s high back lends additional support and an almost hammock-like seating position for optimum comfort and relaxation, while the accompanying ottoman allows the sitter to fully recline. Rubber buffers incorporated into the seat provide further flexibility. The Bird Armchair and Ottoman are timeless 21. St. Century design classics and would enhance any space with their sculptural lines and sumptuous materials.
