Description

Bernard Hippo Table Lamp, Matte Gold

Our Stylist Says

I love the hippo lamp’s playful yet sophisticated vibe; the matte gold finish adds a touch of luxury while keeping it versatile. It works particularly well in eclectic, contemporary, or boho interiors where a quirky statement piece is welcome. For practical styling, consider placing it on a side table, desk, or bookshelf to add personality and ambient lighting. Pairing it with neutral tones or muted colours allows the lamp to stand out, while mixing it with other metallic accents can create a cohesive look. This lamp is ideal for injecting fun into an otherwise understated space or adding a touch of glamour to a more maximalist setting.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
