A pretty partner to our Bern sofa, the Bern armchair offers classic English lines updated with a smart buttoned back. Hand tufted by craftsmen here in the UK, the delightfully plump design features low recessed rolled arms and deep squishy seats. Smart hand turned wooden legs complete the look. The Bern range includes two seater and three seater sofas, an armchair and an ottoman. Our Bern collection can be upholstered in a choice of 33 distinctive shades and five fabrics to suit your style.

I’m really taken with the Bern chair in oat - its low, roomy seat and subtle button-back give it just enough character without dominating a scheme. The neutral cotton-linen blend means it slips easily into contemporary Scandi, modern farmhouse or even pared-back coastal looks, while its turned feet add a touch of traditional detail. For styling, tuck a soft wool throw over one arm and a single lumbar cushion in a contrasting texture (think boucle or velvet) to highlight the chair’s shape. Position it beside a neat side table with a slender lamp for a cosy reading nook, or cluster it with a low coffee table and a couple of baskets to introduce extra storage and texture. It’s equally at home against a panelled wall or beside a simple floor plant for a fresh, lived-in feel.
