A pretty partner to our Bern sofa, the Bern armchair offers classic English lines updated with a smart buttoned back. Hand tufted by craftsmen here in the UK, the delightfully plump design features low recessed rolled arms and deep squishy seats. Smart hand turned wooden legs complete the look. The Bern range includes two seater and three seater sofas, an armchair and an ottoman. Our Bern collection can be upholstered in a choice of 33 distinctive shades and five fabrics to suit your style.

I’m a fan of the Bern chair for its soft ivory herringbone weave and classic tufted back - it brings just the right amount of texture without dominating a scheme. Its rolled arms and turned wooden legs sit comfortably in Scandi, modern country or transitional interiors, and the neutral hue makes it easy to layer in colour or pattern elsewhere. For a practical set-up, position it on a low-pile rug, pop on a muted linen cushion and lightweight throw, then add a slim side table with a small lamp to create a relaxed reading corner.
