A pretty partner to our Bern sofa, the Bern armchair offers classic English lines updated with a smart buttoned back. Hand tufted by craftsmen here in the UK, the delightfully plump design features low recessed rolled arms and deep squishy seats. Smart hand turned wooden legs complete the look. The Bern range includes two seater and three seater sofas, an armchair and an ottoman. Our Bern collection can be upholstered in a choice of 33 distinctive shades and five fabrics to suit your style.

I’m a fan of this armchair for its deep, charcoal velvet and classic button-tufted back: it feels both refined and inviting. Its generous proportions suit schemes from modern country cottages to urban apartments, and the dark hue adds depth against pale or jewel-toned walls without dominating. For styling, drape a soft camel throw over one arm, add a cushion in terracotta or mustard, then anchor the spot with a neutral-wool rug and a slim metal floor lamp. It works equally well as a reading-nook gem or a striking accent in an open-plan living space.
