Description
Belleville is the dynamic Parisian district where you’ll find the studio of designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. Classic French bistro furniture and the lively ambiance of their neighbourhood were the inspiration for the Belleville Chair. With its familiar shape, the chair immediately evokes a certain obviousness - even in a contemporary context - while presenting a mysterious side, a somewhat disconcerting aspect. Indeed, it only lets you see its materials, construction and manufacturing process at second glance. Made entirely of plastic, this Belleville armchair demonstrates great technical sophistication. It consists of two distinct elements: a supporting structure and a seat shell. Like calligraphy, the slender black frame outlines the legs and back of the seat and accommodates a thin, airy shell. The thin shell tapers from the seat to the backrest, creating a play of voids and solids. The characteristic forward-curved armrests trace sinuous, graphic lines in the air, while offering great comfort. Lightweight, sturdy and stackable, this chair with its plastic shell is suitable for outdoor use. The Belleville armchair is available with a plastic or wooden shell. Associated with Belleville tables, Belleville armchairs and chairs form a homogeneous yet varied whole, a hybrid family whose formal language and materials are harmoniously coordinated. The seats and tables can thus be perfectly combined, in small or large numbers, to furnish lively bistros, galleries with light, modern decoration or apartments with the most diverse styles.
