I’m a fan of the Belgrave oval table for its clean lines and solid oak finish - it slots effortlessly into Scandi, contemporary or relaxed country interiors. The clever extension means you can dine four most days and quickly expand to six when friends pop round. To style it, keep a low-profile centrepiece such as a ceramic bowl of seasonal fruit or a tapered-wood candlestick, layer neutral linen placemats and mix in a couple of statement chairs for contrast. A simple jute runner and a vase of foliage will tie everything together without cluttering the surface.

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.
