The Gamfratesi studio consists of Denmark’s Stine Gam and Italian Enrico Fratesi. Their work combines different influences, from classic Italian design to Scandinavian traditions. The Beetle chair is inspired by the shape of the scarab. The seat and back are made from two padded shells with curved lines that look like the insect's shell. The slim, tapered steel legs make reference to a beetle's legs. All these elements are perfectly connected and crafted in a fluid manner. The outline of the chair is enhanced by piping that highlights the seat and backrest. Super-comfortable, Beetle is at home in different environments : around a dinner table, behind a desk, at home or work.
I really like this chair for its modern yet versatile appeal. The grey bouclé fabric adds texture and softness, making it an inviting piece that suits both contemporary and mid-century inspired interiors. Its slim, black metal legs bring a subtle industrial touch, which works well in minimal or Scandinavian schemes. Practical styling tips include pairing it with a marble or wooden side table to create a cosy reading nook, or using it as a statement accent in a neutral living room to add visual interest. Because of its neutral colour and understated design, it’s a flexible choice that can anchor various colour palettes, from warm earth tones to cool greys.
