Alvar Aalto (1898 - 1976) is one of Finland's most famous architects and designers. Nicknamed the "Beehive", the A331 Pendant is one of Alvar Aalto's most popular lighting fixtures. Beautiful even when switched off, Pendant A331 was designed in 1953 for Finland's Jyväskylä University. Equally at home in private and public spaces, the Hive diffuses a warm, comfortable light that shines mainly downwards, but also upwards, as well as onto the lamp itself.
