Upholstered in sumptuous blue velvet, the Beckton dining chair is one glamorous guest. Taking care of your comfort no matter how long the meal is, it benefits from a high back and sloping profile, whilst supportive foam cushions the seat. Modern black metal legs are a striking contrast against the rich royal blue, giving the chair a smart and sleek edge thats perfect for more industrial looks. Becktons swivel base allows easy access at the dining table “ especially in tighter spaces “ and is also ideal for social occasions. A contemporary beauty that suits a wide range of interior schemes.

Our Stylist Says

I love this grey dining chair for its sleek, contemporary design and versatile colour that works well in both modern and transitional interiors. Its understated style makes it an easy pairing with a variety of table styles and colour schemes. The muted grey upholstery adds a sophisticated touch without overpowering the space, making it ideal for both casual family meals and more formal dinners. Practical styling tips include layering it with textured or patterned cushions for added comfort and personality or mixing it with wooden or metal accents for a balanced, eclectic look. It’s a great choice for those seeking a timeless, adaptable piece that combines comfort with clean aesthetics.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
