Originating as a silk scarf print from the 1940s the canes of Bastoni reflect the eclectic nature of the house of Fornasetti brimming with umbrella and hat stands full of antique walking canes. The graphic checkerboard style of the repeat is reminiscent of many Fornasetti favourites resulting in a striking and bold motif. Bastoni is printed with a gravure four-colour process to ensure all details remain sharp with flecks of tonal metallic detail added in a luxurious gold. Shown here in shades of cream beige. This design is a beautiful choice for a feature wall in a living room and office space or perhaps used to paper an entire bedroom or hallway. The Bastoni wallpaper is part of the Cole & Son Fornasetti Senza Tempo wallpapers collection. Application Method: paste the wall and then apply wallpaper. Pattern match: Half Drop. Vertical repeat: 76.20.
I really like this wallpaper because of its clean, neutral palette and subtle pattern that can add texture without overwhelming a space. It works particularly well in contemporary or minimal interiors, where it can provide interest on its own or serve as a backdrop for bolder accessories. I’d recommend using it in living rooms or bedrooms where you want a calm, sophisticated atmosphere. For styling tips, consider pairing it with natural wood or soft fabrics to enhance its understated elegance, and keep furnishings relatively simple to let the pattern shine. It’s versatile enough to work in both larger open-plan areas and more compact spaces, offering a refined but unobtrusive backdrop.
