Our Stylist Says

The barney spotlight is a versatile choice for contemporary spaces, offering a clean, minimalist aesthetic that easily complements various interior styles. I love how its simple white finish keeps the look sleek and unobtrusive, making it ideal for modern or Scandinavian-inspired schemes. It works well in kitchens, home offices, or even gallery walls where focused lighting is essential. Practical styling tips include aiming the spots to highlight key features or artwork, and pairing it with statement light bulbs for added character. Its adjustable design also makes it adaptable to different room layouts, providing both functionality and subtle visual appeal.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
