Our Stylist Says

I love this spot on for its sleek, modern look that suits contemporary and industrial interiors alike. The matte black finish gives it a sophisticated edge and helps it blend seamlessly into darker or monochromatic schemes, while also providing a striking contrast in lighter spaces. This is a versatile piece that works well as accent lighting in living rooms, kitchens, or even hallways. Practical styling tips include using multiple units to create a layered lighting effect or pairing it with warm bulbs to soften its edge. Its adjustable head allows for directional lighting, making it a handy choice for highlighting artwork or architectural features. Overall, it’s a functional yet stylish addition that elevates any ceiling space.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
