The "Babylone" collection was created for Christofle by designer Aurélie Bidermann: an art deco-inspired collection that includes both jewellery and decorative tableware. The Babylone collection represents a dialogue between past and future, embodying values that are dear to Christofle: a luxury lifestyle that incorporates both classical and modern design. Each piece features a braided pattern, a signature of this collection. The porcelain fuses seamlessly with the metal of the vase, combining both brutality and softness. This porcelain vase, with its enamelled interior and matte exterior, rests on a silver-plated metal base. The generous, patinated braid contrasts with the purity of the porcelain. The base and the vase can be separated for ease of use and maintenance. Porcelain handmade in France. Aurélie Bidermann, who was born in Paris to a family of collectors, is someone who embodies the French way of life. After studying art history, she started out working in auction houses before devoting herself to jewellery design in 2003. Émilie Viargues Metge, President of Christofle, fell in love with Aurélie Bidermann's work and vision: "We both worked for leading fashion houses and met during a dinner in Paris. I've been a fan of her designs from the outset as the pieces she creates, which are both feminine and sophisticated, combine that extra French je ne sais quoi with an avant-garde feel. Aurélie is a trend-setter. She has style, character and respect for craftsmanship, values that are central to our philosophy at Christofle - one of the few luxury houses to be actually founded in Paris and the acknowledged benchmark for good taste. Today I'm on a mission to promote the work of planishers, engravers, chasers and metal spinners....professions that are all practised in our workshops in Yainville in Normandy, where we have some 160 employees, including two "Meilleurs Ouvriers de France" (Best Craftsmen in France). Aurélie Bidermann visited the site to find out more about these age-old trades. The newly launched Babylone collection revisits the company's traditional aesthetic, enhancing its curves and generous proportions with an ultra modern, Art Deco feel. Thanks to designers like Aurélie, with their distinctive styles, we can reawaken this "sleeping beauty," making it even more desirable."
