I love the Afteroom barstool in Dakar leather for its pared-back design and warm, cognac tone - it’s a brilliant way to soften a monochrome or industrial scheme. It works equally well in Scandi, contemporary or loft-style kitchens and home bars thanks to its slim black steel legs and compact 63.5 cm seat height. For styling, line two or three along a marble or timber island, hang a slim pendant above and layer in a natural-fibre rug beneath. Match the stool’s frame with black or brass fixtures elsewhere in the room, and allow about 20 cm of clearance between seats for comfort.
