Description
An Italian design icon. Created in 1977, the Atolllo table lamp is illustrative of the talent of the late-lamented Vico Magistretti (1920-2006). This champion of formal purity never stopped inventing pure and lasting design. Atollo speaks of the great Italian designer's attraction to strong geometric and majestically balanced shapes. The large lampshade appears to float above the conical base. The primitive and proportional shapes are highlighted by the light which creates an interplay of chiaroscuro. Made entirely from Murano blown glass, Atollo is characterised by a search for simplicity. It is stripped of any details or technical features: the quintessence of design according to Magistretti for whom sophistication is considered through the transparency of the lines. The work therefore becomes an essential element of purity, a model of permanent validity. Although the Atollo lamp, which won the Compasso d'oro in 1979, is exhibited in the most prestigious museums (MoM. A, etc. ), it also continues to fulfil its purpose as a contemporary object designed for modern interiors. Atollo is equipped with a dimmer which lets you vary the brightness.
