Suspension: no-sag serpentine springs. Cushioning: high- and medium-density foam encased in a Dacron wrap. Castors and studding in brass or pewter finish, depending on your upholstery choice. Some fabrics can show wear on areas of more use or in direct sunlight. Flattening and shading of heavy wear areas on pile fabrics is unavoidable. I’m a big fan of what I’ll call the Walter chair - its deep-buttoned, rolled-arm frame and olive-green velvet give just the right nod to classic Chesterfield style without feeling fussy. The brass stud detailing and turned wood feet on castors lend an easygoing, slightly industrial edge, so it works equally well in a pared-back loft or a traditional country sitting room. For styling, balance its strong shape with lighter, natural textures - think a jute rug underfoot and a simple oak side table beside it. A single linen or boucle cushion in a neutral tone keeps things crisp, while a matte-brass floor lamp will pick up on the studwork. If you want to soften the look further, drape a charcoal-grey wool throw over one arm and keep surrounding walls in muted shades to let this piece really stand out.
