I’m a big fan of this extending table in dark wood - its fluted pedestal legs add sculptural interest without shouting for attention. The extension feature means it’s equally at home in a compact city flat on weekdays and a dinner party in weekend mode. It works particularly well in contemporary or Scandi-inspired spaces, where you can balance its warmth with light upholstery or a pale rug underneath. In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
