About Downtown
Centuries of History and Growth
Downtown isn't just another store; they're a company with over two centuries of history! The journey began in the Lincolnshire town of Boston in 1804, when visionaries John Oldrid and Richard Hyde started their retail adventure by purchasing a modest retail unit.
The timeline of their growth is nothing short of impressive. From the launch of Downtown Boston in 1981, the grand opening of Downtown Grantham in 1989, to the launch of their transactional website in 2009, Downtown has evolved and adapted while preserving its essence.
Today, they proudly operate successful stores in Grantham and Boston, complemented by an expansive garden centre, continuing their tradition as a family-owned business that has thrived for over 200 years.

When one thinks of Downtown, variety and quality come to mind. From exquisite furniture brands like Stressless, Parker Knoll, and Ercol to household names such as Smeg, KitchenAid, and Dyson, the store offers an expansive range catering to every need and desire.
Whether one is revamping their garden, refreshing their home interiors, or searching for the latest fashion brands like Barbour and Joules, Downtown is the ultimate destination.
Digital Presence and Personal Touch
Understanding the evolving needs of their customers, Downtown has established a strong online presence. Their website showcases over 20,000 products, offering the convenience of browsing from home and either opting for click-and-collect from their Grantham site or delivery across the UK.
