I’m a big fan of this grey sliding-top coffee table because it combines simple lines with clever storage - the top surface easily glides open to stow away remotes, magazines or speakers. Its muted grey finish and oak-style top sit comfortably in Scandi-inspired, modern farmhouse or coastal interiors, while the lower shelf offers a handy spot for woven baskets or a stack of coffee-table books.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
