Designed in their own studio in Stockholm, Nordic Knots’ handwoven rugs are high quality and timeless. They’ve got a minimal aesthetic, in muted tones and geometric patterns – just like the rugs found at the centre of Scandinavian homes. The Archipelago Rug is inspired by the clusters of islands in the Stockholm archipelago. It's hand-knotted, giving it a shaggy pile and statement look, and in 100% New Zealand wool it's soft and durable.
I love this rug for its contemporary take on pattern and colour, making it an ideal choice for adding visual interest to modern living spaces. It works well in open plan lounges or bedrooms where a touch of texture can soften sleek furnishings. The mix of blues, greys, and earthy tones makes it versatile-pair it with neutral furniture for a subtle statement or add a splash of colour to a more subdued palette. Practical styling tips include placing it under a coffee table or at the end of a bed to anchor the space, and layering with smaller, complementary cushions or throws to enhance its eclectic vibe. Its pattern adds movement without overwhelming, making it a dynamic yet adaptable piece for a variety of interiors.
