Description
Japanese designer Shin Azumi started this project for the Italian firm Lapalma as an experiment to show the excellence of bent plywood to the fullest. The goal was not only exploring the sculptural beauty, but also to maximize the functionality in a minimal structure. The end result is the AP stool with a unibody structure with no seams or joints, created from a single sheet of plywood. Unlike other parts of this type, there are no divisions or interruptions that may lead to the human eye to be distracted. The seat of the stool and body seamlessly fused in one fluid motion and relaxed, showing the same functionality as shown in other studies of Azumi.
