Description

A new, scaled-down interpretation of Anglepoise's iconic 1227 lamp is the result of an exciting collaboration with The National Trust. This Original 1227 Mini Table Lamp combines the brand's heritage with a pyramid-shaped base and practical, integrated push switch, and it's designed to enhance your space with a clear, even pool of light. It's made from the same high-quality materials, including cast iron, steel and aluminium and features a discreet, etched leaf motif and a gloss Sage Green finish to nod to the National Trust. A replaceable LED bulb is included. More about the collaboration A minimum of £15,000 generated from sales of this collection will be given to the National Trust in 2021. From working with Anglepoise, who share a passion for conservation, these funds will fund restoration works at The Homewood in Surrey, a home gifted to the National Trust in 1999 by architect Patrick Gwynne. The Homewood is a treasure trove of design and was remarkably ahead of its time. The Anglepoise and National Trust collection of Original 1227 lamps is produced under licence from The National Trust (Enterprises) Limited (a subsidiary of The National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty, a charity registered in England & Wales, 205846). Our Stylist Says

I love this little lamp for its compact size and soft sage colour, which makes it versatile across many interiors. It works particularly well in modern, minimalist schemes or in a cosy home office where a touch of colour adds warmth without overpowering the space. The adjustable arm offers practical flexibility, making it perfect for reading or task lighting on a desk or bedside table. To style it well, consider pairing it with natural textures like wood or linen, and keep the surrounding decor simple to let the colour pop. It’s an understated yet functional piece that adds both character and practicality to a range of settings.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
