A reproduction of 'Cariatide' by Modigliani. This archival giclee print has a cotton core mount in a handmade and hand-finished sustainably sourced solid ash wood frame. Made in the UK by museum specialists and printed on heavyweight, matt-smooth fine art paper, it's ready to hang on your wall. Modigliani was an Italian Jewish painter and sculptor who mainly worked in France. Throughout his career, he made more than seventy drawings of caryatids, sculpted female figures which serve as architectural supports taking the place of a column or pillar. Modigliani was also inspired by African art and this influence can be seen in the highly stylised manner and mask-like faces of the caryatids. Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920) was a radical Italian painter and sculptor. Despite the bad reception to his portraits of modern women during his lifetime, his distinctive works are now highly celebrated and he is credited with revitalising figurative painting. His painting 'Nu Couché' sold for £113 million in 2015, making it one of the most expensive paintings in history. Modigliani's figures, with their elongated proportions and frank, almond eyes, skilfully portray the personality of the subject without straying from his signature style.
